When we bought our 27 year old house two years ago, it was very obvious that the bathrooms needed to be updated.  After interviewing about four contractors, we decided to hire Ed.  His cheerful disposition, straight forward presentation and professional demeanor sparked in us a feeling of trust.  We were not disappointed in the least!  Ed prepared for us a schedule plan in which he clearly listed the steps needed to carry out the project, the order in which they would be carried out and the cost involved.  Moreover, he followed this schedule, finishing our project on time and on budget.  We kept regular communication so we always knew the status of things throughout the duration of the project.  In addition, his whole crew is very pleasant and capable.  His sons, Chris and Ed Jr. are extremely talented in their craft, not to mention hard working.  It was a pleasure to greet them every morning! Initially hired Coffin to remove our old kitchen and install a complete new one. Shortly after that job was done we again contracted with them to convert the raised, screen porch off our kitchen into a 320 sq. ft. three-season porch. In both cases their contributions to the planning, execution of the plan and general workmanship were first class. Ed Coffin and his two sons were directly involved in all phases of the project. There were no surprises and no disappointments. We would definitely hire them again and strongly recommend their service for others.

We live in a 75 year old home, in which Ed Coffin has completed a number of renovations. We first contacted him when we needed to have the sills replaced. We contacted him because one of the colleagues in my husband’s office referred to Ed as the “only person who worked for my mother-in–law about whom she didn’t complain”. We feel the same way!

Ed has listened to our needs and has tailored materials and designs to coordinate with the age and design of our house. Once work is begun he stays on the job until it is completed. At the end of each workday, materials are cleaned up and put away. Prices were fair and there were no surprises.

Since the sill replacement, Ed has rebuilt our front stairs and back deck, completed a major kitchen remodel, remodeled 2 bathrooms, done major window replacements, and redesigned our back entrance, fence, and stairs. We have been delighted with all of these renovations. They have exceeded our expectations! We unequivocally recommend Ed Coffin to anyone who wants a house remodel or renovation.

He was there for the final approval for the building permit, listened to what I wanted for a home, gave us an honest opinion as to remodeling vs. tear-down, gave us a calculated time table of what to expect, he knew exactly what we had for a budget and when we were planning on actually being in our home. Tear down was the way we went and so he guided us step by step as to what we had to get in place to attain our goal. The actual construction would take place while my husband and I were residing in Florida for the winter and communication was done over the computer.

With everything in place, subcontractors, permits, final plans and contracts set, we left in November and were set to return in May… He sent us weekly updates, pictures and financial breakdowns of what was happening. Ed supervised this project on a daily basis and was in constant contact with the subcontractors keeping them on schedule… He is a perfectionist and expects the same of those working with and for him.

We returned from Florida the 1st of May to Ed anxiously awaiting us to arrive. It was like “Extreme House Makeover” and no one was more proud to show us our dream home than Ed. To this day we appreciate the hard work and dedication he put in this project. We are grateful to have found him and can’t praise his workmanship enough.
